The Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center Memorial and graves for the victims of genocide from 1995 today presented the conclusions of the two-year research and work of the Mechanisms for the Warning and Prevention of Genocide and Crimes against Humanity, which was established at this institution with the support of the Government of the United Kingdom through the project “Truth, dialogue, future,” reports Anadolu news agency.

As announced, it is about research and reporting on crimes in current conflicts around the world.

“We carried out and published reports on crimes in Ethiopia, Ukraine, Syria and South Sudan, which is a continuation of the global work of the Memorial Center that began with the earlier report on crimes in Myanmar. The Memorial Center is hereby confirmed once again as one of the central points of investigation of violations of international humanitarian law, which is the result of the request of the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica that the message ‘never again’ really has weight in our constant work to raise awareness of current war crimes around the world,” said Emir Suljagić, director of the Memorial Center.

Special attention was paid today to the results of the investigation of war crimes committed by Russian official and paramilitary forces in Ukraine.

The Memorial Center established a series of conclusions calling for the prevention of new crimes and the responsibility of Russian forces for human rights violations.

“In the early stages of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Srebrenica Memorial Center offered legal assistance to Ukraine through the diplomatic contact of the ambassador of Ukraine in BiH and will continue to work on strengthening cooperation with Ukrainian memorials, research centers and institutions – in order to transfer their experience and knowledge to the fight for truth and justice in Ukraine,” added Suljagić.

The reports were published on the official website of the Srebrenica Memorial Center.
