The Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes and officials of the BiH Prosecutor’s Office held a meeting today with representatives of the UN.
The UN delegation was led by Zainab Hawa Bungur, the Special Representative of the UN General Secretary for issues of sexual violence in armed conflicts.
At the meeting they spoke about the prosecution of war crimes relating to rape and sexual abuse.
The Prosecutor and representatives of the BiH Prosecutor’s Office spoke to UN representatives about the work of the Prosecutor’s Office, as well as the war crimes crisis prosecuted up until now, among which are war crimes of rape and sexual violence.
Representatives of the BiH Prosecutor’s Office spoke to Bungur and her associates on the work of the Department for Investigation and Prosecution Witness Support, which was established to provide support to victims and witnesses.
They also spoke on the modalities to improve and speed up the process of these cases as well as opportunities for lending support to victims of these crimes, during and after the trial, announced the BiH Prosecutor’s Office.
