In Brusa Bezistan in Sarajevo yesterday a meeting of young BIH diaspora took place, whose organizer was the Center for Social Education.
The meeting of young people will last until 18 August, and it gathers around 30 young BIH diaspora from the US, Great Britain, Denmark, Slovenia, Croatia and Turkey.
“The aim of this project is to connect more young people with their homeland through education and socialization. Through various workshops with young people, we will speak on current topics such as the Census and the crisis of identity of BIH citizens that live outside BIH’’, explained in a statement to FENA the President of the Center for Social Education Hilmija Arnautović.
The meeting will take place in three cities: Sarajevo, Visoko and Mostar, and several speakers will discuss with young people relevant topics. Among the speakers is member of the Parliament of Canton Sarajevo Elmedin Konaković, who will speak about Bosnian identity.
“I was pleased to respond to this invitation and to socialize with young people from BIH and the diaspora. The diaspora is completely ignored, and presents potential of every kind’’, he said.
He thinks that the absence of a Ministry for the Diaspora, as well as a ministerial office at any level that deals with the issue of the diaspora speaks volumes about the fact that BIH is not concerned with the diaspora as much as it should.
“I am glad that there are young people that try to do something and make up for these shortcomings’’, said Konaković.
