plenum_mostarAround 100 protestors gathered yesterday at Spanish Square in Mostar, where they once again expressed their dissatisfaction with the situation in their country, and after the police stopped their protest rally, they held a meeting of the Plenum on the street of Spanish Square. The protest and the Plenum ended around 19:00, after which the citizens peacefully dispersed.

The protest began at around 17:00, and after several speakers, at 17:45 the gathered citizens started walking on Nikole Šubića Zrinskog Street towards Rondo Square, 200 meters away, while shouting ‘Thieves’ and ‘Resignation’.

However, the police stopped them halfway, at the area of the field office of the OSCE Mission. After a minor confrontation with the police, the protestors returned to Spanish Square, where they blocked traffic of a part of the intersection.

Around 18:00, the protestors sat down on the street, and then decided that the Plenum meeting, which should have taken place at OKC Abrašević Center, would be held on the street.

At the Plenum, they repeated their demands for the resignation of the Herzegovina-Neretva (HNŽ) government and the President of the Assembly of HNŽ Ramiz Jelovac, the reduction of benefits and lowering the salaries of officials, and adopting a set of social demands.

At about 19:00, the Plenum ended, and the protestors peacefully dispersed. During the Plenum, the police redirected traffic and monitored the situation peacefully. The new protest is scheduled for today at 17:00 at Spanish Square.
