Member of BiH Presidency met with Croatian President

The member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, and the President of the Republic of Croatia, Zoran Milanović, talked today in Zagreb about the relations between the two countries, but also about open issues, including the long-standing question of the interstate border.

Today, Bećirović is on an official visit to Croatia, where he will meet with the highest officials of that country and discuss the improvement of mutual relations between BiH and Croatia, and especially the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The interlocutors assessed that only dialogue and talks can improve the relations between the two countries, and political representatives should follow the good relations that citizens have with each other and discuss open issues in order to reach a solution and relaxation of relations.

Milanović expressed satisfaction with the meeting after a long break at the highest level, adding that the talks were in Croatia’s interest, and Croatia’s interest, he says, is for BiH to be a place of stability and a member of the European Union.

“Croatia is an important trade partner of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our foreign trade exchange amounts to more than 2.8 billion euros, exports from BiH to Croatia are around 1.35 billion, while imports into BiH are around 1.45 billion euros,” data presented today by a member of the BiH Presidency in Zagreb.

They also discussed the security situation in the region, and Bećirović said that Bosnia and Herzegovina has a politician who has turned from a political threat into a security threat, and that is the president of Bosnia and Herzegovina. entity Milorad Dodik, who, says Bećirović, must be stopped in anti-Dayton and anti-constitutional politics.

When Milanović was asked by the media to comment on Bećirović’s views on Dodik, Milanović said that he sees Dodik as an interlocutor and not as a security threat because he is a legitimate representative of one of the three constitutive nations living in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The other day there was an agreement with him, and then it turned out to be another, but it was not a threat, it was Dodik’s irresponsibility, which endangers mutual relations, but he is an interlocutor, I don’t know where to look for an interlocutor,” underlined Milanović.

Bećirović also underlined that BiH has clearly defined foreign policy goals, namely membership in the European Union and the NTAO alliance, which are based on strategies and laws, and anyone who thinks otherwise should initiate the procedure for changing those documents in the relevant state institutions.

He also commented on the events surrounding the southern and eastern interconnection and repeated the position that it is not disputed if the law on gas is adopted at the state level, which he proposed in February as an item on the agenda of the BiH Presidency, announcing that he would support all development projects of BiH if they take place according to to the law.

“RS must understand that it is also in their interest in order to implement these projects. There are clear EU directives on this. We need to talk, and the policy of pressure and blackmail is not a policy that can bring good to anyone,” said Bećirović.

In the continuation of the visit to Croatia, Bećirović is scheduled to meet with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković.
