Representatives of Pan-European organizations from Europe, BiH authorities and international communities will participate in the international conference “BiH at the Crossroads – New Approach to Euro-Atlantic Integration”, which will be held from October 24-26 in Sarajevo.
On that occasion, a press conference was held in Sarajevo today where representatives of Pan-European Union of BiH emphasized that the Conference consists of three panels, where members of the European Parliament will discuss “New Approach of the European Union to BiH”, whereas the BiH professors and members of Pan-European Union of BiH will present a new approach in BiH to the European Union.
Among participants of the Conference are presidents of the Pan-European Union from France, Hungary, Slovenia, Serbia, Switzerland and Croatia, who will speak about Pan-European views on BiH.
Honorary President of the Pan-European Union of BiH prof. dr. Franjo Topić reminded that Pan-European Union came into existence in 1923 and that it is one of the oldest organizations promoting European unity.
In that sense, it is important that Tonino Picula, Tanja Fajon, Dubravka Šuica and Bernd Posselt, members of the European Parliament, will participate in the Conference.
”We need additional ‘infusion’ for BiH to move forward. Given the complex structure of the state, it is unlikely internal efforts will be enough,” emphasized Topić.
He proposed to give back Bonn powers to the High Representative to BiH, because at the moment “he is more just a figure than he is High Representative with his powers.”
”BiH should be granted to join the EU like Bulgaria or Romania did, without fulfilling all the criteria. It would be cheaper and more practical for the international community and for us,” said Topić.
International Conference “BiH at the Crossroads – New Approach to the Euro-Atlantic Integration”, emphasized Vice President of the Pan-European Union in BiH prof.dr. Hasan Muratović, will result in signing of declaration.
”I hope the Conference will be based on real perspective. The aim is for the new government – new wave to build our stance and approach to the European Union,” said Muratović.
In his opinion BiH is on its way of getting a quality material for those dealing with accession of our country to the EU.
Pan-European Union of BiH, as part of the International Pan-European Union, is promoting European values and standards in BiH to become member of the EU as soon as possible.
