Members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina spoke with NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska. During the talks, current security and political issues were discussed, as well as the cooperation of Bosnia and Herzegovina with NATO.

Member of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović, said that the recent adoption and submission of the latest BiH Reform Program is the best confirmation that Bosnia and Herzegovina is at the door of NATO, successfully using the Membership Action Plan (MAP) as the highest level of Alliance cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Therefore, as stated further, all the formal conditions have been met for Bosnia and Herzegovina to be invited to join NATO as soon as possible.

Bećirović pointed out that the strengthening of the NATO headquarters in Sarajevo through the opening of the political department further confirmed the strong connection between our country and the Alliance.

During the meeting, a member of the BiH Presidency pointed out that full membership of Bosnia and Herzegovina in NATO is one of the country’s strategic foreign policy goals, stressing that NATO integration represents an important framework for long-term security, stability and strengthening of defense capacities of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bećirović pointed out the importance of continuing reforms in the defense and security sector, as well as further strengthening Bosnia and Herzegovina’s cooperation with NATO, including support for the development of the capacities of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the improvement of interoperability with NATO forces.

NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska emphasized the importance of continuous cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and NATO. She praised the adoption and delivery of the BiH Reform Program for 2025.

She stressed that the meetings of members of the Presidency of BiH with the highest NATO officials represent a confirmation of continuous partnership and expressed the importance of the new meetings of the Presidency of BiH with the North Atlantic Council (NAC).

In addition to Bećirović, the meeting was attended by two other members of the Presidency – chairman Željko Komšić and member Željka Cvijanović.
