Millions of Euros of Damage in Two BH Cities after Floods

The entire Tuzla Canton has suffered damage due to heavy rainfall, but the worst is in the Municipality of Celic, where a state of natural disaster has been declared, due to unforeseeable consequences.

Hundreds of residential and commercial buildings were flooded, and the damage in this agricultural area is incalculable. The inhabitants of Celic are desperate.

For Semsa Ferizovic,  this is not the first flood in the family home.

“This is my fifth or sixth time. I have suffered 17,000 marks from the previous two floods. I did not receive anything. I would like the municipality to help me this way. They promised. I would move out. Because I can no longer wait for  floods like this.” , says Semsa.

“Yesterday was a disaster. Within an hour everything was flooded. Here you see. We couldn’t enter, we couldn’t take the cattle out …. The ground floor is all flooded, inside. I can’t estimate how much it is, but the damage is huge “, complains another resident Senad Citakovic.

Yesterday, her first neighbors saved Ganib from the flood that entered her house.

“The water was up to the ceiling, I couldn’t go outside. People saved me, I went out the windows …”, she says.

The biggest problem in Celic is the river that flows through the city center, whose bed has never been widened or regulated. And this is exactly what these people, whose voices are rarely heard, are constantly pointing out. They hope that the current mayor, who took power after 20 years, will solve this problem, because this – the next time must not happen.

The area of the municipality of Tesanj was severely affected, where rivers overflowed at several localities, after which a state of natural disaster was declared.
