At the official presentation, the newly appointed coach of the Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) National Football Team, Savo Milosevic, said that he believes in the quality of the BiH team and that he hopes to qualify for the European Championship.

“I sincerely believe that this team can qualify for the European Championship. It has enough quality to be there. The road will be very difficult and thorny, but I believe that I can do this. We have enough time to prepare until March, but that preparation must begin immediately,” Milosevic stated, adding:

“We haven’t given up on the qualifiers, but our reality is the play-off, which is a specific match. There is nothing beautiful about it, the play-off is played with heart, fighting spirit, and character,” Milosevic said.

Yesterday, Serbian football expert Savo Milosevic (50) officially became the new coach of the BiH National Football Team

Milosevic thus became the third coach of the BiH National Football Team this year after his predecessors Faruk Hadzibegic and Meho Kodro were dismissed after only four and two matches respectively.

A rich playing career

During his playing career, Savo Milosevic, a 50-year-old native of Bijeljina, was considered one of the best Balkan strikers, and for the national team of FR Yugoslavia, i.e. Serbia and Montenegro, and for the national team of Serbia, he scored 37 goals in 102 appearances and is third on the list of players with the most appearances and goals in the history of Serbia, which also includes SFR Yugoslavia.

He gained his first experience as a coach at the age of 46 in the football club “Partizan” which he coached from March 28th, 2019 to September 1st, 2020, when he submitted his irrevocable resignation. In 67 games, he recorded 43 wins, 8 draws, and 16 losses, and won the Serbian Cup.

Milosevic will make his debut on the bench of the “Zmajevi” (eng. the Dragons – a popular nickname of all BiH national teams) on October 13th, when the BiH National Team visits Liechtenstein in Vaduz in the seventh round of European Championship qualifiers.
