Miners: Not a Kilogram of Coal comes out until we get paid

Yesterday, the miners of the Zenica Coal Mine said in a rather harsh conversation with the representatives of the management of the Zenica Coal Mine that not even a kilogram of coal will come out of these facilities until their salaries are paid.

The miners of the Zenica Coal Mine have suspended production since yesterday due to the debt of March installments and wages for April. Although the president of the Independent Trade Union of the Zenica Coal Mines Subsidiary Elvedin Avdic said that legally they cannot go on a general strike, after the director’s address to the miners, it was decided to suspend production, and they said that they are ready for much bigger things.

“We will not attack you physically, but we are ready for anything. A kilogram of coal will not come out of the mine until our salaries are paid. We want Nermin Niksic to come and solve it, and you director, call them and let them solve it,” said one of the miners.

The director of the Zenica Coal Mine, Mensur Hukic, stated that slightly more than 1.4 million BAM is needed for salaries and other benefits owed to the miners, but that last month they generated an income of slightly more than 900.000 BAM.

He also mentioned earlier debts due to which the account is blocked in the amount of about 4 million BAM.

After a rather harsh discussion between the management of Zenica Coal Mine and the miners, it was decided that the miners would suspend production, Klix.ba reports.
