A minister in the Ukrainian Government Vadym Chernysh, in charge of the development of economic cooperation, is staying in an official, multi-day visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, within which he will hold meetings with BiH officials to discuss strengthening trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

In an interview with FENA, Minister Chernysh underlined that foreign trade cooperation between BiH and Ukraine increased the double amount compared to last year, but the goal is to increase the scope of foreign trade by more than three times.

“In recent years, we have had a positive dynamic and these figures testify to the fact that we have great opportunities for continuous development of cooperation in different fields,” stressed Chernysh.

He singled out foreign trade exchange in various industries, which has increased by 14 times, which is a large figure and represents a significant prospect for future cooperation.

However, he noted that there is a lack of mutual investments, which is why he believes that business people from Ukraine should visit BiH and see the investment opportunities, and also BiH business people need to visit Ukraine and consider investing in that country.

The agreement on strengthening cooperation in the field of tourism between BH and Ukraine is ready for signing, and Minister Chernysh expressed hope that it will be signed soon, and will enable an increase in the number of tourist visits in both directions.

“Strengthening of tourism cooperation will enable the strengthening of other economic areas that are closely related to tourism, such as transportation, communication and accommodation industry,” said the minister.

Formalities related to the signing of an agreement that will affirm Ukraine’s support to BiH membership in the World Trade Organization is at the final stage, which will also be an incentive for the development of BiH economy.

Minister Chernysh also said that the representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ukraine have already agreed on common goals, including European integration, strengthening cooperation and contacts with European countries, as well as creating joint projects to appear together in third markets.

Also, representatives of the interstate committee of the two countries signed a joint statement defining areas for enhancement of cooperation in the fields such as energy and agriculture, which will further stimulate economic ties.

The Ukrainian minister also recalled the historical ties of two countries that last for more than a century, and also the connection between the peoples in the sense of common roots, as the Slavs arrived in this region and settled precisely from the region of Ukraine.
