Minister Kosarac warned of the Lack of political Support in resolving the Trgovska Gora Case

Yesterday, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Stasa Kosarac, sent an emergency to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH, asking to intensify activities to solve the problem of building a landfill for radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel at the location Trgovska Gora in Croatia.

”I appeal again to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH and the line minister Bisera Turkovic to seriously dedicate themselves to resolving specific issues in the interest of all citizens in BiH and enable domestic experts to enter Croatia to work in the field in Trgovska Gora in parallel with Croatian colleagues. I have been addressing the same request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH for a year now, but unfortunately, I still do not have an answer from Minister Turkovic, ” said Minister Kosarac.

He reminded that the competent institutions at all levels of government in BiH are obliged to respect the conclusions of the Presidency of BiH and the Council of Ministers of BiH in order to prevent the construction of the disputed landfill near the border between BiH and Croatia.

Determination is obvious

”Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Zoran Tegeltija accepted my proposal and expressed readiness to hold a meeting with representatives of the governments of Republika Srpska (RS) and the Federation of BiH (FBiH) in the following period to discuss all open topics in the Trgovska Gora case and initiate certain processes, ” stated Minister Kosarac.

He expressed dissatisfaction

”Unfortunately, we lack the support of political representatives from the FBiH. BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Bisera Turkovicpersistently ignores our calls for support to the Expert Team. Also, it is inadmissible and illogical that the Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament Bakir Izetbegovic at a recent meeting with the Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenkovic in Dubrovnik missed the opportunity to point out this issue, ” noted Kosarac.

Also, he expressed dissatisfaction with the work of the Legal Team, as its activities do not follow the pace of the Expert Team, especially when it comes to drafting a strategy for legal protection of BiH’s interests in connection with the construction of the disputed landfill on Trgovska Gora.

Minister Kosarac concluded that the signals from Croatia prove that this country will not give up its intention, but that this does not give the representatives of competent institutions at all levels of government in BiH the right to be passive and not fight to protect the health of all citizens and the environment.
