Minister Lagumdžija Met with Representatives of U.S.A, Russia, Azerbaijan and OIC in New York

Lagumdzija - NewYorkDeputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs Zlatko Lagumdžija met in New York with the Permanent Representative of the United States to the UN, the  Ambassador Samantha Power, with the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, the Ambassador Vitaly Čurkin, with the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United Nations and the Chairman of the UN Security Council, the Ambassador Agšin Mehdiyev and with the Secretary General of the Organization for Islamic cooperation (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu.

Lagumdžija congratulated Ambassador Power on her appointment and expressed his satisfaction for her appointment as a permanent U.S. representative to the UN because  Ambassador Power knows the situation in B&H extremely well. He informed her on current events in B&H, with a focus on the efforts to resolve the issue of the implementation of the judgment for the case “Sejdic and Finci” and for fulfillment of the requirements for starting the implementation of the Action Plan for NATO membership (MAP).

During the conversation with Ambassador Čurkin, Lagumdzija stressed the good bilateral relations between B&H and the Russian Federation. The need for further strengthening of economic cooperation between the two countries was highlighted, including the development of cooperation in the field of tourism, especially after entering into force of the Agreement on mutual visa-free regime for citizens of both countries.

Ambassador Mehdiyev informed Lagumdžija on the priorities of the current one-month presidency of Azerbaijan in the UN Security Council and on the current issues of the UNSC.

During the meeting with the Secretary General Ihsanoglu, Lagumdzija expressed his gratitude for the continuous support of OIC to B&H and informed the interlocutor of current developments in B&H. Lagumdžija congratulated Ihsanoglu for the special session of the UN Security Council dedicated to cooperation of OIC and the UN Security Council, where the Presidential statement on the strengthening of efforts to achieve common goals was unanimously adopted.
