The Chairman and Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sefik Dzaferovic and Zeljko Komsic talked today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden Anna Linde about bilateral relations between the two countries which are at a good level with the possibility of further improvement and strengthening.
Special attention was paid to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and violations of international humanitarian law, and the view was expressed that Russian threats to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Kingdom of Sweden are inadmissible, and that each state has the right to decide on its foreign policy.
It was pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina made the right move by joining the positions of the European Union and the UN General Assembly resolution condemning Russian aggression, and based on previous decisions of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and obligations under the Stabilization and Association Agreement.
Minister Linde called on the authorities of the Republika Srpska to withdraw the RS Law on Immovable Property, and to ensure the smooth functioning of institutions, with full participation in decision-making.
It was emphasized that the elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina must be held within the stipulated deadline, with the provision of the necessary financial resources, and on the basis of the current election legislation, the office of the chairman and member of the BiH Presidency said.
Dzaferovic and Komsic expressed expectations that during the Swedish presidency of the European Union, which begins in January 2023, Bosnia and Herzegovina and its European path will be in the focus of attention.
The need to implement reforms aimed at improving the rule of law, the fight against corruption and organized crime, gender equality and social cohesion was discussed in the context of the newly adopted Kingdom of Sweden’s Strategy for Relations with the Western Balkans.
