The beginning of the mandate of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Minister of Security Nenad Nesic will be remembered for the historic signing of the agreement with Europol, which was worked on for 10 years.
Assembly point
Radoncic said that the Ministry of Security is the assembly point for Sky, for all Europol data, it comes to the level of the state umbrella institution, which is the Ministry of Security, and then, according to the funnel principle, it goes to our security agencies.
Minister Nesic also spoke about the importance of signing this agreement.
“I would like to thank Mr. Radoncic for his correctness and the attitude he expressed about my previous work as Minister of Security. Europol is very important, security-wise, symbolically, and politically. It is truly incredible that we lost ten years because we did not have full cooperation with Europol. Security is a prerequisite for everything, without it there is no stability and certainty, which are the basis of attracting investments and economic progress,” said Nesic.
He added that this is symbolically important because the Ministry of Security reacted proactively to the European Union’s (EU) decision to grant BiH candidate status for membership and solved an important issue on the European road.
“We will not stop there, the Ministry of Security will use the positive momentum in both Brussels and BiH to continue. Politically, Europol is important because it shows that progress in BiH is possible. That agreement, discussion, and compromise are possible. I hope that we will find the strength to talk and agree on other issues as well. We must look forward,” Nesic pointed out.
Return of migrants
A topic that has come into the public’s focus is the organized return of migrants from the Republic of Croatia to the Lipa migrant center, which has been going on since last week. Namely, we are talking about dozens of migrants who have been returned to our country, and what exactly it is about, Nesic explained and recalled that there are currently 450 migrants in the two centers in Bihac and that the total capacity is 2.000.
“In total, there are 1.200 migrants in four centers in BiH. BiH has signed an agreement on readmission with the Republic of Croatia, and in connection with this, obligations arise to accept persons who illegally enter Croatia from BiH. For every foreigner who is found to have illegally entered the territory of Croatia from BiH, there is an obligation to accept them on the basis of a signed international agreement,” Nesic stated.
The Service for Affairs with Foreigners is the institution responsible for the implementation of international agreements on readmission, and thus, in this particular case, the agreement on readmission between the Council of Ministers of BiH and the Government of the Republic of Croatia, Nesic said, Avaz reports.
