Miss World 2016 is Stephanie Del Valle from Puerto Rico

miss-worldThe world of beauty got a new queen last night. Her name is Stephanie Del Valle and she comes from Puerto Rico. Representative of BiH, 19-year-old Halida Krajišnik, did not qualify for the top 20 girls at the 66th Miss World beauty pageant.

Last year’s winner, Miss World Mireia Lalaguna from Spain, handed over the crown last night in the National Harbor hall in Washington to her heir, who received it with a lot of emotions. After that, all girls went on stage holding hands, and sang the song which sends the message of love and friendship. The beautiful new Miss World in her pink dress and her grandiose crown attracted the most attention.

Before the grand finale, 117 contestants worked hard on preparations and participated in several other competitions. The judges also evaluated participants on the basis of their performances in previous challenges that were prepared for them.

Miss Indonesia won the title “Beauty with Purpose” and Miss Philippines was the best in the field of multimedia. The most talented was Miss Mongolia, while the Miss Cook Islands excelled at sports. Chinese representative celebrated in the competition of top models.

Hosts of the ceremony Megan Young and Jason Cook first declared the top 20 girls, and among them were representatives of Mongolia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Hungary, Kenya, Puerto Rico, India, China, Brazil, Australia, the Dominican Republic, USA, Slovakia, Belgium, France, Korea, Cook Island, Ghana, Japan, and Thailand.

When the selection was narrowed down, ten girls remained: from Indonesia, Belgium, the Philippines, Kenya, USA, China, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Brazil, and Korea, together with Mongolia which was chosen by the audience. In the end, Kenya, Puerto Rico, Indonesia, the Dominican Republic and the Philippines entered the top five.

The competition was broadcast live in 200 countries of the world. In addition to the diamond crown, the winner also won 94.000 USD.
