What did Mogherini and Hahn say about the latest Constitutional Court Decision?

b_160917100In a joint statement on the occasion of the decision by the Constitutional Court of BiH to reject the request by the National Assembly of the RS for reconsideration of the decision on January 9, High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security of the European Union Federica Mogherini and Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn stated that the issue of the Day of RS should not and must not draw attention of BiH away from the progress on EU path.

“The Constitutional Court of BiH did not reconsider the decision on the Day of Republika Srpska and adopted a temporary suspension measure for referendum in the RS. We invite institutions in bIh to settle this dispute and respect the rule of law through established legal processes and the existing constitutional framework, through the means of a constructive dialogue,” it was stated.

Mogherini and Hahn emphasized that all parties should sustain from activities that might lead to the escalation of the situation.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina has launched reforms necessary for the solving of economic and social challenges that the country faces with and which are crucial for the progress of the country on the EU path. The issue of the Day of RS should not and must not draw attention of Bosnia and Herzegovina away from this extremely important affair,” it was stated by Mogherini and Hahn.
