The total debt of Montenegro (without deposits) on March 31 amounted to 4.67 billion euros or 66.36 percent of GDP, the Montenegrin Ministry of Finance announced.
At the end of March, deposits amounted to 774.24 million euros, including 38,447 ounces of gold /whose value on March 31 is 78.81 million euros/ or 11.01 percent of GDP.
The total external debt of Montenegro amounted to 4.16 billion euros, or 59.09 percent of GDP, which is 639.36 million euros more than on December 31 last year, which also affected the increase in deposits.
During the first quarter of this year, there was an increase in the net national debt in absolute amount compared to the end of 2023 by 608.04 million euros, which is an increase compared to GDP by 7.07 percent.
“The increase in debt is conditioned by the increase in external debt as a result of the issuance of bonds on the international market,” the Ministry of Finance said.
