More than 400,000 customers across the United States are without power due to a winter storm that threatens to paralyze the eastern states with heavy snowfall.

According to data from the “Poweroutage” website, the number of consumers without electricity continues to grow, so by 6:30 a.m. local time, more than 400,000 are without electricity.

“Of that number, 100,000 each have been registered in Mississippi and Texas. Other affected states are Louisiana, Tennessee and New Mexico,” the website states.

Meteorologists said that snow, sleet, freezing rain and dangerously low temperatures will affect two-thirds of the country today and during the next week.

Calling the storm historic, President Donald Trump last night approved the declaration of states of emergency in South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, Maryland, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Indiana and West Virginia.

A state of emergency has been declared in at least 20 US states due to storms and snowstorms.
