The president of the Association “Movement of Mothers of the Srebrenica and Žepa Enclaves”, Munira Subašić, commented on the verdicts of Jovica Stanišić and Franko Simatović and said that justice had been served.
During statements to the media in the Netherlands, more precisely in front of the court in The Hague, Subašić emphasized that the verdict is extremely significant and emphasized that no mother wants someone to kill her child.
“I want the children to have friends who are both Serbs and Croats, but war crimes must not be denied. We give birth to children out of love and that is how we must raise them. You all have mothers and listen to them. No mother wants her son to be killed,” said Subasic.
She said that the mothers gathered around the association will initiate legal steps against Serbia and the RS.
“We have a meeting with the Secretary General of the UN. We will have very important talks everywhere. We will ask them to create a fund with which the victims should be satisfied. What is the most important thing? We sued the government of the Netherlands and we managed to get a verdict. We have good lawyers, and we will do the same for the RS and Serbia,” she points out.
Also, Subasic sent a message to Ukrainian mothers.
“This is a message to Ukrainian mothers to fight and seek justice. In the end, they will get it,” Subasic concluded.
Other mothers who are also in the Netherlands supported Munira Subašić and said that crimes and genocide must not be denied.
“We need and must demand our rights and compensation. No one can compensate us for the victims. No one can return our children. All this should be a warning to the politicians of Serbia and all people involved in politics to know that justice will come sometime and that they must be ashamed when they glorify war crimes,” said one of the mothers, Klix.ba reports.
