Group of mountaineers from BiH together with mountaineers from the region participated in the Memorial climb on the summit of the Hajla Mountain, which is being held in the memory of alpinist Safet Mavrić Ćako from Novi Pazar who died on that mountain.

One hundred and nine mountaineers of 210 reached the summit of the Hajla Mountain (2403 m)

Mountaineer Association ”Hajla” from Rožaje said that the climb was demanding because of the low temperature and high snow and ice.

This year’s memorial clim was opened by the mayor of Rožaje Nusret Kalač, and the president of ”Hajla” Feka Kurtagić was the main coordinator of all activities, and the guides were Semir Kardović, Zulfikar Zuko Kurtagić and Anisa Demić from ”Hajla”. Other members from ”Hajla” and mountaineer Željko Dulić from Novi Sad also helped.

The sponsor of this event was municipality Rožaje and Tourist organisation Rožaje.

Safet Mavrić Ćako died on his favourite mountain – the Hajla Mountain on 6 January 1997.
