Miralem Pjanić was just about to sign for Manchester United, but Jose Mourinho stopped the transfer of the BiH national team player from Roma, the British Mirror reported.
Namely, before the Portuguese officially assumed the function of manager of the Red Devils, officials of United wanted to bring Pjanić from Roma.
However, after he sat on the bench of Manchester on May 27, Mourinho vetoed the bringing of Pjanić and decided to do whatever it takes to bring Paul Pogba from Juventus.
Only two weeks after Mourinho’s arrival, on June 13, Roma sold Pjanić to Juventus. This was favorable for United, when it comes to bringing the French to the team.
Allegedly, United negotiated all details of transfer with Juventus already in July and details of Pogba’s contract were defined last week. Official signing of the contract is expected in the following days.
