SIPA police officers have been conducting searches in Sarajevo and in the Bjelasnica area since this morning.
Mayor of Trnovo Municipality Ibro Berilo, municipal employee Nađa Milišić, Nermin Demirović, former director of Sarajevo Forest, Adis Mulaosmanović, owner of Lok-pil d.o.o. and his sister Edina Džigal are charged with conspiring to commit criminal acts, namely abuse of position or authority and money laundering.
As announced by the KS Prosecutor’s Office, the searches are being carried out as part of an operation with an interesting code name – “Incitat”.
As part of the Incitat campaign, conducted by SIPA on the order of the KS Prosecutor’s Office, the Aroma aparthotel in Bjelašnica is searched.
Aparthotel Aroma is targeted by investigators as ownership is being investigated. It is suspected that Berilo has several of his apartments in it or even some other form of ownership.
As some media have unofficially learned, Berilo is suspected, among other things, of favoring Adis Mulaosmanović, the owner of the company ‘Lok-pil’, to obtain permits for the construction of the Aroma Hotel, and that he received an apartment in return. Berilo tried to hide that property.
The entire procedure, reports Avaz, was conducted through the Municipality of Trnovo. His assistant hid everything in the garage.
As Klix.ba unofficially learns, Berilo is suspected of changing regulatory plans with municipal associates in favor of investors in order to build facilities in Bjelašnica, on state land that is under a temporary ban on disposal, and in return received gifts abusing his position.
They also learn that Berilo is suspected and that by changing the Regulatory Plan, he favored the sale of six plots of state land located above the Nomad Hotel.
SIPA previously announced that as part of the operation, it had placed four people ‘under control’, the fifth is being sought.
As announced, it is a case of systemic corruption in the construction sector and money laundering.
The media have been writing about construction in the Municipality of Trnovo, more precisely in Bjelašnica, for years, and especially about the suspiciously granted permits issued by the Municipality.
Berilo has been the municipal head for more than 20 years, and was first elected in 2002 and held that position for the next two years. From 2004 to 2008, he served as a deputy in the Sarajevo Canton Assembly. In 2008, as a candidate of the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina, he was re-elected as mayor, and four years later he received the same position as a candidate of the SDP. After that, he was a candidate of the SDA.
In his political career, Berilo changed almost all party jerseys, and political parties were happy to support him because he was virtually an undisputed candidate to bet on in the election race.
In addition to having the jersey of almost every party, Berilo also has a huge list of assets, according to the report.
According to the property register of the Office for Combating Corruption of the KS, which is also involved in today’s action, Berilo is one of the richest chiefs and politicians in BiH.
It is interesting that Berilo stated that he bought several plots of land with cash. So he bought agricultural land worth over 130,000 BAM with cash that he allegedly saved.
Ibro Berilo at KCUS, as Avaz reports, is waiting to see what the team of doctors will decide, whether he can be arrested and taken to SIPA by order of the KS Prosecutor’s Office, which suspects him of systemic corruption and money laundering.
Berilo, as they learned, reported to KCUS two days ago because of high blood sugar. Doctors will decide today whether he has to remain hospitalized and whether he can be questioned by the police.
However, this is only the tip of the iceberg. SIPA and the Prosecutor’s Office have only scratched the surface.
The action could very soon be extended to more people. To individuals and from the Sarajevo Canton Government. The question is who gave the permission to build in Bjelašnica, Avaz points out.
