Following the submission of a report by the Office of the High Representative (OHR) to the United Nations Security Council, former United States Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Michael Murphy took to the platform X. He offered a critical perspective on the current U.S. administration’s policy toward Milorad Dodik, specifically regarding the lifting of sanctions. At the same time, he pointed out that no one – not even the U.S. delegation – challenged the positions presented in the OHR report, which once again highlighted the harmful and destructive policies of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD).
Murphy also shared his take on statements made by Dodik and Željka Cvijanović.
Murphy: Criticism Lacking Substance
Addressing the reactions of Dodik and Cvijanović to the OHR report, Murphy noted that the U.S. administration did not accept their criticisms; instead, it commended the work of Acting High Representative Louis Crishock.
“It did the exact opposite and praised the work of Louis Crishock. In other words, the administration did not accept the criticisms leveled at the OHR or the report by Dodik and Cvijanović – criticisms that were absurd, amounting to little more than the usual ‘sound and fury,’ designed to serve as a smokescreen for their own unacceptable behavior.
The two of them are incapable of presenting credible, fact-based arguments regarding the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, because the facts do not support their claims,” Murphy stated in his post. Attacks on the OHR Will Not Change U.S. Policy
A
former U.S. ambassador believes that analysts in Bosnia and Herzegovina should not attach too much importance to Dodik’s attacks on the OHR, as these – in his assessment – will not prompt the U.S. administration to reconsider its policy toward Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“However, analysts from Bosnia and Herzegovina would be wise not to attach too much importance to this. Dodik’s attacks on the OHR will not lead the administration to reconsider its policy toward Bosnia and Herzegovina,” stated Murphy.
