Muslims in the Neum Settlement were denied of joy for Eid al-Adha

Muslims in the Neum settlement were denied of joy for Eid al-Adha (the second and biggest of the two main holidays celebrated in Islam) yesterday morning by graffiti written by unknown persons on a building next to the local mosque.

Abbreviation of Croatian Defence Council – HVO was spray-painted on the building of the old mosque, and the letter U was written on another building, in the immediate vicinity. The flag of the Islamic community, which is traditionally displayed during all religious holidays, was removed from the mosque and taken away, the Mufti of Mostar announced.

According to Amer Effendi Beca, the congregation experienced this uncivilized act with complete disbelief and discomfort, which aims to threaten, intimidate, and provoke national hatred.

About 40 people attended the Eid prayer in Rabrani, almost half of whom are on summer vacation in the only seaside town in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). They reported the case to the Police Department in Neum, from which they were told that their teams would go to the scene and investigate, it was added.

”This will not sway us in our determined intentions to build, improve and develop our religious life. I expect the police authorities to find the perpetrators as soon as possible, and the mayor of Neum, who should be the mayor of all citizens in Neum, including Bosniaks in Rabrani, to come and visit them. That would be the gesture of a responsible political holder of the local government. As a mufti, I invite him to visit this place together as soon as possible,” said the mufti of Mostar, Mr. Salem ef. Dedovic, regarding the incident in Rabrani, Klix.ba writes.
