NATO Headquarters Sarajevo donated a used Toyota RAV 4 vehicle to the Association of Children and Youth with Special Needs “Embrace” at the ceremony organized in Camp Butmir.
During the ceremony, Brigadier General Folkestad said:
“Today’s donation demonstrates NATO’s dedication to BiH civil sector, and in particular to the institutions and organizations which work with BiH youth and children, by providing a range of important services in local communities.
NATO remains committed to supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina in its reform efforts, all within the framework of supporting peace, stability and security within the Western Balkans region.“
The ceremony was attended by the President of the Association, Mr. Predrag Pušara, who expressed gratefulness for NATO support to the parents in their efforts to provide a better quality of life for their children and organize the work of the day care centre for the most vulnerable members of their families.
The Association of Children and Youth with Special Needs “EMBRACE” operates in the area of East Sarajevo. In 2018, the parents of children and youth with developmental difficulties, supported by the East Ilidža Municipality, established the Association with the aim of providing assistance to their children. The purpose of the Association is to improve the way of life of this group of residents of East Sarajevo through organization of various activities, to include engagement of specialists to support development and social integration of these children.
