In Sarajevo the project “ACoRD-Association for Common Rural Development”, aimed at linking non-governmental organizations from BiH that deal with rural development in a single network was presented.
The conference was held today in hotel “Hollywood”, where the goals of the project financed by the EU was presented, with the support of the Swedish Organization “We Effect”.
“The primary objectives are the establishment of a network for rural development in BiH as a strategic and strong partnership between the key actors in the rural development of the country, strengthening the capacity of civil society that will be members of the network and including the nonprofit sector in the development and promotion of mechanisms for a larger participation of citizens in the reform process and the harmonization of the public sector and regulations in accordance with the relevant EU policies in the area of rural development’’, explained the Coordinator for the network for rural development Snježana Janjetović in a statement to the media.
She recalled the enormous potential of BiH, and when it comes to rural development she said that the next step of ACoRD would be the signing of a public call for all nonprofit organizations that wish to become a part of the network.
The program manager in the EU Delegation Džemal Hodžić explained that the EU is co-financing this project, and experts believe that due to the priorities of rural development, it should be the basis for the entire development of BiH.
“Rural development plays a very important role in countries in the region, such as Serbia and Croatia. Also, we are aware of the fact that the civil sector could greatly assist in encouraging this development’’, said Hodžić.
The project will be implemented in the next two years by the Agency for Cooperation, Education and Development from Banja Luka, “Nešto više” and “Una-Sana”. The European partner project is “Elard”.
