Ten kilometers of a modern highway that is linking BiH with the European Union over the the section Svilaj – Odzak, i.e. the northernmost part of Corridor 5-C, is officially completed.

The director of the PE Highways of the FBiH Adnan Terzic stated that this part of the corridor will largely decrease the traffic in Odzak, but its real value will be visible after the construction of the border crossing and Svilaj bridge.

“After that, this part of BiH will be connected with corridors and highways of Europe,” stated Terzic.

Minister of Transport and Communications of the FBiH Denis Lasic noted that this part represents the northernmost part of the highway at the Corridor 5C in BiH, and he added that it has a strategic importance for the construction of the entire highway.

Lasic also noted the importance of Svilaj bridge, which will connect BiH and Croatia.

“The construction of this bridge, as well as the border crossing, will increase the speed of the flow of goods and passengers between BiH and Croatia,” stated Minister Lasic.

The WBIF approved grant funds in the amount of 17.5 million EUR for this infrastructure project for the first time in this part of Europe.
