City of Sarajevo is richer for one new tourist product, three cultural- historical routes, which are a part of the project ‘Sarajevo at the Crossroads of the World’ said at today’s presentation of their tourist offer in Bosniak Institute in Sarajevo.
Project ‘Sarajevo at the Crossroads of the World’ is finances by the EU with 300 000 EUR, and co-financed by City of Sarajevo, FBIH Ministry of Tourism and Environment, Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Culture and Sports while the Foundation ‘Mozaik’ is creator and has implemented the project.
Talking about the cultural-historical routes, manager of the Foundation ‘Mozaik’ Aida Vežić said that the routes are called ‘Coexistence’, Sarajevo, then and now’ and ‘Art and Architecture’.
‘These routs tell the story of our city. Those are the story of co-existence of monotheistic religions, centuries old culture and everything beautiful that can be seen in objects of cultural- historical heritage’ said Vežić.
With the realization of this project, conditions for improving the attractiveness of museums, galleries and cultural institutions, included in the project ‘Sarajevo at the Crossroads of the World’ were created.
‘We’ve worked with tourist guides, to whom we’ve advised to focus on cultural tourism in Sarajevo. We’ve pointed out that there is a need for adequate and interesting interpretations because tourists like to hear local legends, something they’ll remember. They want authenticity, they want to experience the spirit of our city in Sarajevo’, concluded Vežić.
Head of the Sector for Economic Growth, Natural Resources and Infrastructure in the EU Delegation to BiH Martin Schieder thinks that the project ‘Sarajevo at the Crossroads of the World’ has a great potential for improving the tourist offer.
‘Project has both economical and cultural potentials, because tourists in Sarajevo want to discuss its cultural heritage’, said Schieder.
He noted that the sustainability of the project should be achieved; because it is proven that it is successful.
Assistant mayor of Sarajevo Sahrudin Sarajčić noted that City of Sarajevo, as one of the leading tourist destinations in the region, tries to implement new projects every year.
‘This project will contribute to revival of the city of Sarajevo as a tourist destination, and so our city will become a more interesting tourist destination’, said Sarajčić.
He noted that Sarajevo is not just tourist but also historical city, having in mind that it is at the crossroads of historical paths of many civilizations.
He added that he hopes that similar project will be realized in time to come.
‘I hope we’ll enrich the tourist offer of Sarajevo with our and funds of the EU, so that the tourists would be more satisfied’, said Sarajčić.
