Neymar: Playing with Messi and Suarez again would be incredible

Brazil forward Neymar has said reuniting with former Barcelona team-mates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at Inter Miami is an interesting idea and has not ruled out a move to the United States after his Al Hilal contract expires.

Once one of football’s most lethal attackers, Neymar partnered with Messi and Suarez to lead Barcelona to a historic treble before moving to Paris in 2017 for a record €222 million.

“Obviously, playing with Messi and Suarez again would be amazing. They are my friends, we are still in contact often,” Neymar told CNN.

“It would be interesting to revive that trio. I’m happy in Al Hilal, I’m happy in Saudi Arabia, but who knows. Football is full of surprises.”

Neymar has played just seven times for Al Hilal since his €90 million move from Paris Saint-Germain in 2023, as injuries kept him out for long periods. His current contract expires in June.

He spent six seasons in Paris scoring 118 goals, but despite huge domestic success, failed to win the Champions League again with the French club, before leaving for the Saudi Pro League.

“When the news came out that I was leaving Paris, the transfer window was closed in the United States, so I didn’t have that option. The project that was offered to me was very good, not only for me but also for my family, so going to Saudi Arabia was the best option,” added the 32-year-old Neymar.

He is Brazil’s all-time top scorer with 79 goals and has said he will have one last chance to win the World Cup in 2026. With six rounds remaining in the South American qualifiers, Brazil are currently fifth in the standings. The six best-placed national teams will qualify directly for the World Championship, which will be hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico.

“I will try, I want to be there. I will do everything I can to be part of the national team,” said Neymar, who has not played for the national team since tearing the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee during a qualifying match in October 2023.

“I know this is my last World Cup, my last attempt, my last chance and I will do everything I can to play in it.”, CNN writes.
