Nihad Uk resigned from the Position of Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton

The Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton announced that he was resigning after young people took to the streets due to the tragic death of a young man and the serious suffering of a girl, stressing that the voice of young people is more important than the position he holds.

In the address in which he referred to the beginning of his mandate, the prime minister of the Sarajevo Canton reminded that at that time he emphasized young people and their future, not the past. He pointed out that it was the young people who now took to the streets, raised their voices and clearly communicated what they expected from the authorities.

He emphasized that since its establishment, Our Party has been calling on young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina to get involved and to talk about the problems they face. According to him, the young people reacted because of the young man who died and the girl, for whose recovery everyone is praying, but also against the Government itself, which he presides over. He said that the message of citizens, especially young people, is more important to him than his personal function, and that the choice between their courage and his own position is clear to him.

The Prime Minister stated that he performs his job with honor and integrity, based on the belief that responsibility should be assumed both when one is given a position and when assuming responsibility can restore trust in the system. In this context, he announced his decision: today he is resigning from the position of Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton.
He added that in the previous days he had worked day and night, at the scene of the tragedy, in the hospital and in the Government, and emphasized that his colleagues in the Government of Sarajevo Canton were no less affected by the tragedy or less engaged. He announced that he would continue to do his best to find out the truth, assume responsibility and restore faith in the system, which, as he emphasizes, must be transparent, fair and safe.

He also referred to the atmosphere of distrust in the country, where suspicion itself is often perceived as confirmation. In such circumstances, he believes that the discussion about political responsibility gains additional weight. He told his colleagues from the opposition that the tragedy must not be a reason for subterfuge, spreading falsehoods and political brokering, and expressed regret that, in his words, they had chosen such a path.

He emphasized that, as the first person in the Government, he wants people throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina to understand that they have the power to change, that the authorities listen and hear them, and that he will do everything possible to ensure that citizens perceive the system as their own house, the fate of which they decide equally. Finally, he emphasized that he is taking responsibility and not running away from it, and that he will continue to lead the processes until a new Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton is appointed, Klix.ba writes
