Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s office of BiH Goran Salihović met with the Director of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies in BiH Mirsad Vilić, who reported to him about activities implemented within the Operation “Srebrenica 2016”, which included work and coordination of all police and security agencies during the marking of the 21st anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica on July 11, when 127 victims of the genocide in Srebrenica were buried in Potočari.
Within this operation, several hundreds of police officers from all police and security agencies participated. Regular meetings were held where the plan of activities was being designed and estimations of potential security threats made.
According to estimations, marking of the 21st anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica was attended by more than 20.000 people from BiH and abroad, including a large number of international delegations and diplomatic representatives, which required detailed and coordinated security preparations.
Security activities during the arrival, sty and departure of participants and activities on securing the roads at the territory of Srebrenica and the surrounding areas, including the Memorial Center Potočari, were all coordinated.
Chief Prosecutor congratulated the Director Vilić, the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies in BiH, and all police and security agencies and police officers who participated in this operation on successfully implemented activities within the Operation “Srebrenica 2016”.
