What is the Number of Patent Applications in 2016?

In 2016, the number of patent applications submitted to the Institute for Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) amounted to 45, out of which 42 were filed by resident and 3 by non-resident applicants.

The International Patent Classification provides the identification of the technology base of the patent as well as the sector in which it will probably be applied.

According to the IPC codes, the highest share of patent applications in 2016 were recorded in section of Mechanical engineering; lighting; heating; weapons; blasting (26%). The highest share of granted patents in 2016 according to the field of technology related to other fields ( 52%), while the lowest one related to Instruments (2%).

In 2016, the total number of patents granted in the national procedure amounted to 13, out of which there all were patents of non-resident applicants.

According to the IPC codes, the highest share of granted patents in 2016 related to section Human necessities (36 %), follows section Chemistry, (29%). In the national register (on the day 30.06.2017), 427 patents are in force.
