High temperatures and dry weather conditions have caused a large number of fires across Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), with the most critical situation recorded in Herzegovina.

In the area of the municipality of Bileca, three fires are active, mostly in inaccessible terrain, so houses are not endangered, said the commander of the Bileca firefighters, Radomir Radmilovic.

In the area of the village of Gomiljani in Trebinje, a fire broke out, and the flames caught grass and low vegetation, said yesterday the deputy commander of the Trebinje firefighters, Nedjo Cuk.

He stated that the situation is difficult because the fire has spread across the entire field, overgrown with tall grass, and in which there are also vineyards and houses that need to be defended.

According to the report of the Federal Administration of Civil Protection, numerous fires have been registered for the past two days, with an Air Tractor engaged in Mostar.

Firefighting units of the city of Mostar extinguished fires in Slipcici and in Miljkovici, where grass and low vegetation were burning.

In Capljina, a fire was recorded in the place of Celjevo, while firefighters from Cazin extinguished fires in two locations.

In the area of the Una-Sana Canton (USC), a fire also broke out in Velika Kladusa, in the place of Mrcelji, where grass was burning.

Fires were also recorded in Zivinice, Kakanj, Busovaca, Donji Vakuf, and Grude.

The competent services are appealing to citizens to be extremely cautious and not to light fires in the open.
