Olympic Center Bjelašnica from the end of the 2022/23 winter season is intensively working on numerous projects to improve the ski area and the accompanying infrastructure, which enables an increase in the number of snow days for skiing, the capacity of the ski area and the improvement of conditions for skiing in general, is said to Fena from the Olympic Center Bjelašnica – Igman.
From that center, they emphasize that there is a great growth of interest in OC Bjelašnica as a ski destination, which is also evidenced by the holding of the European Cup and other important competitions that are planned for the new season.
“All of this ultimately leads to better financial results and further development of our Olympic Center Bjelašnica-Igman,” they emphasize.
They also state that in addition to the significant expansion of the trails Kolijevka, Gornja kolijevka, trails 5, 5a and 5b, and the trail Štinji do, through four months of intensive work on Bjelašnica, they managed to humus and grass more than 40 percent of the total area of the trails.
It is, as they add, a big step for establishing an ideal snow surface for ski slopes as well as protecting skiers’ equipment on days when there is less snow on the slopes.
The Olympic Center’s artificial snowmaking team, as they point out, builds the perfect ambiance for an unforgettable season. 50 new cannons were installed, 10 kilometers of new pipelines were built, and the PS4 pumping station.
The trails that will be ready for snow this year are: Upper trail 4, Lower trail 4, Trail 5, Trail 5a, Trail 5b, Trail 6, Trail 2 to reservoir 2 and Plateau Babin to.
While the project to build an artificial snow system is being worked on, the cannons are undergoing a thorough overhaul to be ready for all the challenges that winter brings.
“We also take care of our reservoirs in order to ensure enough snow for perfect trails, they point out from OC Bjelašnica-Igman. On the four-seater cable car Vučko, a new drive motor with a higher power, 95 kW, was installed, with which the designed capacity of the cable car was achieved of 600 skiers per hour with a maximum speed of 2.6 mps,” they explained from the Olympic Center.
All surface ski lifts will be ready for operation in the coming season. A special operation was the overhaul of the Kotlovi ski lift, and they expect to put that installation into operation when the weather conditions, primarily the absence of fog, allow it. By putting all the installations into operation, a vertical transport capacity of around 6,000 skiers per hour is expected.
The final tests of the garage for the baskets of the six-seater Olympic descent cable car have been completed, and the garage space will accommodate 65 baskets of that installation.
The garage for six-seater baskets is a facility that has been maximally used for commercial purposes. In this sense, the basement part of the building will be equipped with public toilets that the users of the center will be able to use throughout the year, thus solving the significant problem of the lack of this type of infrastructure and services at the Bjelašnica ski center, while on the roof of the garage, a hospitality facility with the most beautiful with a view of the trails of OC Bjelašnica and the entire Babin to – said from OC Bjelašnica-Igman.
They pointed out that they were actively working on upgrading the lighting on the ski slopes for night skiing. Lighting for night skiing has also been installed on trails number 5, 5a and the Štinji do trail.
