Regarding the statements of the President of the Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, who is a guest on the public service of BiH entity announced the possibility of secession, if the high representative in BiH Christian Schmidt imposes a decision on state property, the OHR said that BiH is an internationally recognized state whose sovereignty and territorial integrity are guaranteed by Dayton, the Constitution of BiH and international law, and that the entities have no right to secession and exist only on the basis of the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
They pointed out that the international community also maintains instruments, including the High Representative, to support the principles of the Dayton Agreement.
“This is the permanent and unequivocal position of the Peace Implementation Council,” they said in response to BHRT’s inquiry.
As they stated, the Peace Implementation Council also advocates the position that an acceptable and sustainable solution to the issue of state property must be found, which is one of the goals of Agenda 5+2.
“The High Representative and the Steering Committee of the Peace Implementation Council are still determined to provide support for an inclusive political process within which this goal would be achieved,” the Office of the High Representative in BiH emphasized.
Politicians in BiH, instead of jeopardizing the process of European integration, should focus on finding solutions and not create problems, they concluded.
