Yesterday, for the tenth time, Gorazde was part of the global campaign “One Billion Rising Against Violence”, which this year is dedicated to the fight against violence that destroys women and the planet Earth, under the slogan “Let’s stand up for all women, girls, and the Earth“.
The Women’s Association “SEKA” in cooperation with partners, organized a campaign in Gorazde under the motto “Let’s get up and dance for peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH)”, due to the complex security and socio-political situation in the country.
”Today, Gorazde is sending a message to the international community, politicians from all over BiH, which could be a fertile, safe, beautiful country if citizens, and especially children, get to decide on how they want to live. We want all conflicts and problems at the political and social levels to be resolved in a constructive way and we want a homeland that gives us peace, refuge, free from hatred, division, nationalism, wars, and a homeland where we can live safely and have economic and general security,” said yesterday the president of the Women’s Association “SEKA” Esma Drkenda.
She stressed that war brings with it the worst forms of violence and that in every war women and girls are exposed to severe forms of violence. Messages of peace were sent by officials of the City of Gorazde and the Bosnian Podrinje Canton (BPC).
”We are proud that Gorazde is part of this global action because love has no alternative and we should say no to hatred and always fight against hatred. I am glad that the children and young people I see here are part of the action, but I am sorry that those 148 children who lost their lives in the aggression on BiH are not with us today. Because of them and because of all those who lost their lives in the period ’92 – ‘95, we must be strong and aware of what we have and we need to say decisively no to all forms of violence,” the Prime Minister of BPC Gorazde Aida Obuca mentioned yesterday.
