Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued an Indictment against Alen Aleta, born in 1982 in Sarajevo, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The aforementioned accused is charged with enabling an unlawful transport and stay of six (6) migrants – citizens of Syria and Iraq, all with the intention of acquiring unlawful material gain by driving them across the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to the allegations in the Indictment, on 17 October 2018, the accused and one migrant who had hired him in Sarajevo took over a group of five (5) migrants, who had previously illegally crossed the state border from the Republic of Serbia to Bosnia and Herzegovina, at a previously agreed place in the area of Sapna, and drove them in the direction of Sarajevo for an agreed amount of money, knowing that those migrants do not meet the requirements for a legal stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The aforementioned accused was detected during the commission of the criminal offense by the authorized officials of the Police Station in Kladanj when they attempted to inspect his vehicle and he refused to stop the vehicle at their sign; nevertheless, they caught up with him in a police pursuit and he was thus prevented in his attempt to flee.

This accused person is charged with the commission of the criminal offense of Smuggling of Persons, as referred to in Article 189, paragraph 2 in conjunction with paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
