Cevapi, lamb, burek, and mini cevapi, are just some of the Bosnian and Herzegovinian (BiH) delicacies that have conquered the mouths of people from all seven continents.
People from BiH are known as excellent hosts, and the specialties of our cuisine are talked about all over the world.
One of the best ambassadors of our cuisine in Germany is the famous gastronome Belmin Costovic from Tesanj, who has had his own restaurants in this country for many years.
“Traditionelle Balkankuche by Belmin” is the name of the restaurant that he opened in Neu-Ulm. Belmin previously had a smaller restaurant in Ehingen near Ulm, but due to high demand, Costovic decided to open a restaurant with a much larger capacity.
His newly opened restaurant in a short time became a favorite not only among people originating from the former state but is often and happily visited by Germans as well.
“With us, quality comes first and everyone knows that, so opening a much larger restaurant was a logical sequence of events. Several years ago, I had offers to create a chain of restaurants throughout Germany, but in that case, it would be an impossible mission to maintain good quality. Lovers of BiH and Balkan cuisine travel tens of kilometers to eat specialties from my restaurant “Traditionelle Balkankuche by Belmin”, and all the tables in our facility located at Bahnhofstrasse 10 in Neu-Ulm are already booked until mid-January. I made a mistake again, I should have asked for twice as much space so I wouldn’t have to move again,” Belmin Costovic stated.
The successful 41-year-old restaurateur and gastronome from Tesanj explained that his job is not easy and that every dish needs to be prepared with a lot of love.
“We Balkans, especially we from BiH, are known as big gourmets. In my restaurant, everyone will find something for themselves, except for vegetarians. The menu includes bey’s soup, sarma, stuffed peppers, tarhana, rotisserie chicken, veal under the bell, lamb, burgers, cevapi with kaymak, sudzukice, sausages…
We prepare and serve our meals in clay pots. We are also known for our hop hop platters for 10 or 15 people. In Germany, they tell me that when they want to eat something as good as at Sejo Brajlovic’s in Ilidza, they must come to “Traditionelle Balkankuche by Belmin”. I’m honored when they compare me to Sejo Brajlovic, and my specialties to his,” Belmin concluded, Biznis Info writes.
