One person was killed and another suffered serious injuries in last night’s clash between migrants in the Lipa Temporary Reception Center near Bihać – it was confirmed by the Una-Sana Canton Police Administration.

“The police station in Bihać received a report from the team leader for the security of the Lipa Reception Center from the Directorate for the Coordination of Police Bodies. Around 18 hours and 40 minutes, it was reported that there was a mutual physical conflict between a group of migrants inside the Center itself, and that there were injuries. All available police forces were dispatched to the scene and the situation was quickly brought under control. However, it was also established that two people were seriously injured, and they were immediately transported by ambulance to the Cantonal Hospital in Bihać,” said the spokesperson of the Una-Sana Canton Police, Ale Šiljdedić.

Later in the night, one of the injured persons unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

“That foreign citizen suffered injuries in the chest area, and they were inflicted with a cold weapon – a knife. We received the information that he died last night around 22:30. The second person was injured in the arm area and her life is not in danger. According to the information collected so far, it is a group of migrants from Syria, so the assumption is that these two people are from the same country,” said Šiljdedić.

Police officers are still conducting a criminal investigation of the criminal act – murder, and more information about this event and the reasons for the tragic outcome will be known after the completion of all investigative actions.
