In Vareš, in the heart of the Zvijezda Mountain there is a sledge quarry that forges iron via water energy for more than 800 years. This manner of forging persists on the Schwarzwald Mountain in Germany, and thus the sledge quarry in Oćevija near Vareš is a unique place to visit.
Also, in Vareš there is another important relic in village church, a gilded relic of Jesus Christ whose authenticity was confirmed by the Holy See in 1778 and every 8 May there is a holy mass with procession and kissing of the relic.
