kastelOn a crowded summer stage of fortress Kastel last night opened the seventh International Film Festival Kratkofil Plus.

The festival started with an interesting stage presence accompanied by videos that reminded the cult films, after which was shown the first round of the competing films that audience greeted with applause.

Goran Mutabdžija, Minister of Education and Culture of RS prior to showing of the films welcomed visitors.

The festival was officially opened with the film “Harry Dean Stanton: Partially Fiction”, which is screened with the support of the USA Embassy in BiH.

This film could be described as a portrait of a man, brought almost to perfection. It is a portrait of an actor who never became  famous, but still managed to gain the admiration and respect of the filmmakers.

Sandra Josović, executive director of the festival, said that this year has been very difficult to organize Kratkofil Plus, because they had the smallest budget and no longer is realistic to work in these conditions.

“However, we are still happy that we were able to organize the seventh edition of the festival. Kastel is full of people tonight which means a lot to us, having in mind the fact that we have introduced charging for tickets 1 km, and we hope that the audience will come to all other screenings during the next days “, said Josović.

She recalled that this year the applications for the competitive part of the festival were more than 2.000 films from all continents, and the selectors have chosen 43 films that will compete for awards.

“We tried to discover some lesser known films that do not put huge favorites in the competition, because it would not be fair to some of the less successful films to compete the films nominated for an Oscar or something. We looked for a balance in the quality and variety of author approaches, “said the director of the program Vladan Petković.

Božidar Trkulja, a jury member, said he hopes the films will be good, because short films are good and interesting. According to him, short films are little packets of energy that can offer something to everyone, and when we watch short films, we do not have to wait two hours in order to get something, because for a good story is enough even ten minutes.

After screening visitors enjoyed the beautiful garden lounge Kratkofil Plus “Secret Garden”.
