Opening of ‘Sarajevska Zima’ Ceremony Today Dedicated to ZOI’84

paffThe ceremony, which will be focused on the Winter Olympic Games 1984, will open today on the square in front of the National Theatre the 30th international festival ‘Sarajevska Zima’ under the motto ‘PAFF!”-Peace, Art, Freedom.

The official opening of the program will be preceded be several programs throughout the city, and in the afternoon the official opening will include a number of performances in front of the National Theatre.

Director of the festival Ibrahim Spahić has announced that the special guests at the opening will be artists from South Korea, as well as a number of high school students and government representatives.

‘’After addressing officials, high school students will begin to walk out from the National Theatre, accompanied by Vučko, and will form five Olympic circles on the square, after a performance with 28 oars symbolizing the 28 stars on the stars of the EU’’, he said.

At the opening ceremony, citizens will be able to see the original Olympic torch, as well as a performance with pigeons.

Director Spahić also announced the operation of three trams from Skenderija to Čobanija-one that symbolizes the siege of Sarajevo and the second is the dream of B&H citizens-Brazil and the World Football Championship, and the first electric tram that went through Sarajevo for the first time 100 years ago.

The Director of the group “Nine Dragon Heads” Pjong Pak expressed his great pleasure in participating in the Festival, stressing that this artistic group returns to Sarajevo every year for ‘Sarajevska Zima’, because this is a wonderful opportunity to show Korean culture and art.

Conductor Lim Dong-Chang, who will perform tonight with Total Theatre in the National Theatre after the opening of the festival, emphasized that they will present to the Sarajevo public contemporary Korean music, which is based on Korea’s long history and is present in contemporary culture.

‘’At the concert, we will present the new instrument Tieko, which combines Western and Korean music. We will perform traditional Korean music on it, through song that promotes not only peace, but also mutual love, which is the essence of Korean culture’’, he said.

The Festival this year will gather more than 1000 artists from 41 countries in the world, and will last until 21 March.

During the official opening ceremony of the Festival, traffic in some parts of the city will be temporarily suspended.
