The 32nd edition of the largest and most important regional film festival – the Sarajevo Film Festival – begins tonight in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. From August 14 to 21, the Sarajevo Film Festival will bring more than 250 films from around 70 countries. A total of 51 films will compete for the “Heart of Sarajevo” award. This year, BHT1 will once again broadcast the opening ceremony live from the National Theater in Sarajevo, which will begin at 8 p.m., but as early as 7:30 p.m., our viewers will be able to follow the atmosphere from the Red Carpet and conversations with guests.
Regional cinematography is once again at the center of the festival program, and the Festival itself is the place where the largest number of films can be seen.
In addition to regional films, the audience will also have the opportunity to watch the most significant European and world films, especially within the Open Air program, which this year also brings a number of attractive titles.
British actress Emily Watson will chair the competition jury that will award prizes to the best feature films, who will also be awarded the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo.
In addition to Watson, the members of the jury will be Sara Klimoska, Igor Bezinović, Matthias Walter-Knoll and Tina Rachel Tsangari.
Woody Harrelson, Diego Luna and Bosnian actor Emir Hadžihafizbegović will also receive the honorary Heart of Sarajevo this year.
The opening ceremony of the 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival, in accordance with the tradition of the Festival, will be led by the young actor from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kerim Čutuna.
BHRT to be a key partner of the Festival
Radiotelevisija Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHRT), as the main media partner of the Sarajevo Film Festival, brings its viewers and listeners everything that marks the largest regional film festival – from the opening ceremony and red carpet, through interviews with film authors and festival guests, to the awarding of awards and the closing of the Festival.
During the eight festival days, BHRT’s programs will be devoted to the most important events and stories from SFF, along with direct reports and live broadcasts, interviews, conversations, festival chronicles and reports.
During the Festival, the Red Carpet will be broadcast live on BHT1 every day in two time slots, from 18:15 and from 21:00, with interviews with guests and protagonists of SFF.
From 20:00 to 20:30, two festival shows will be broadcast alternately – BHT1 Exclusive and Festival Stage. Film authors, actors and other guests from the world of film, as well as interesting interlocutors from music, fashion and other fields will be presented in live conversations. BHT1 Exclusive is edited and hosted by Dževdet Tuzlić, while the editor and host of the Festival Stage is Valentina Arsenović.
Every evening, BHT1 brings the Chronicle of the 32nd SFF, a show dedicated to the most important events of the festival day, the competition program, guests and stories that mark the Festival. The festival contents will be represented daily in the BHT1 news broadcasts, as well as through reports from reporters from different festival locations.
A special part of the festival program is Kafa sa…, daily live conversations with Festival guests, which will bring the people and stories behind this year’s festival programs closer to the audience.
And BH radio 1 follows SFF from its center. The daily festival chronicles will be broadcast live (from 1:03 p.m.) from the studios of BH Radio 1 in the Sarajevo National Theater, with interviews with guests, contributions and a review of the competition program. The radio will follow the Festival through Jutarnji dnevnik, Dnevnik and Otvoreni studio, and some of the Kafa with… programs are also planned.
Special attention will be paid to the end of the Festival. On Friday, August 21, BHT1 will live broadcast the closing ceremony and award ceremony from the National Theater in Sarajevo, while BH Radio 1 will cover the closing ceremony live, along with the opening show and the post-award review.
The contents of the festival will be available on the digital platforms of BHRT and social networks, and the portal bhrt.ba will contain the consolidated contents of the festival realized during the eight days of the SFF.
