Orban: We must prevent Europe from going to war with Russia

Hungary wants to prevent Europe from going to war with Russia, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán pointed out, adding that the government knows how to do it.

Orban said that Europe is rushing to war like a train with a “crazy driver”.

“Ahead of us is a gigantic task, the likes of which we have never had. We must prevent Europe from entering a war that will lead to its destruction,” explained Orbán.

He added that the implementation of the dangerous plans of the EU and NATO, which lead to the spread of the conflict in Ukraine, should not be allowed, and in the upcoming elections in the European Parliament, vote for parties that stand for peace, not war.

Orban said this at a rally held on Margit Island on the Danube in Budapest after the “March of Peace” in support of the Hungarian government’s policy against the spread of the conflict in Ukraine.

Similar demonstrations are being held in other cities across Hungary.

Participants carry national flags, banners with the names of their cities and placards in support of the ruling Fidesz party.

Earlier, Orban said that Europe is preparing for war with Russia. Orban, who has close ties to Vladimir Putin, said every week there were more signs that Europe was preparing for military action.

“Going to war does not happen in one step,” he said, adding that Europe is increasingly drawn into the war in Ukraine.

“There are three stages: discussion, preparation and destruction. We are now concluding the discussion and are in the preparatory phase. We are a few centimeters away from destruction,” he said, according to Sky News.

Despite condemnations and opposition to the Russian invasion across the European Union, Orban has tried to strengthen bilateral relations with Moscow.

He has opposed many EU initiatives to support Ukraine in resisting Moscow’s forces, while posing for a photo with Putin in October last year.

Orban was the only Western leader to congratulate Putin on his re-election, despite some EU ministers calling the vote a sham.
