The Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina received an official notification today from the COVAX mechanism that the delivery of AstraZeneca vaccine will arrive on Thursday, March 25, at the Sarajevo International Airport.

The shipment contains 26,400 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine in this delivery. The vaccines will arrive by flight from Istanbul.

Today, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina received a new notification regarding the delivery of vaccines paid for by Bosnia and Herzegovina under the COVAX mechanism.

“We have been informed that the delivery of vaccines has been extended by one day compared to the previously announced dates,” the MCP BiH said in a statement.

The arrival of 24,000 doses of diluent for March 24 has been officially confirmed, while 23,400 doses of BioNTech / Pfizer vaccine will arrive on March 25, 2021.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs pointed out that it would inform the public with more information immediately upon receipt of the data. The exact time of arrival of vaccines depends on the flights to Sarajevo on which they will be shipped to BiH.

The Klix portal reminds that the agony around the delivery of vaccines through the COVAX system lasted for a long time, which was quite slow.

Due to this fact, the authorities of the BiH entities have decided to directly procure vaccines that have not yet arrived in the Federation of BiH.

As Foreign Minister Bisera Turkovic announced earlier, vaccines from COVAX will arrive in three rounds – on March 23, March 29 and April 22.

The priority group for receiving the first vaccines that arrive in FBiH will be health workers and residents of caretaking facilities, as well as the staff of nursing homes.
