The declaration with which the House of Representatives of FB&H explicitly opposes the disposal of radioactive waste from Croatia near the border with B&H, Trgovska gora, was unanimously adopted at yesterday’s session of this House in Sarajevo.
The primary message is that the state level should get actively involved in the problem, oppose to the disposal of hazardous materials for protection of the health of citizens and the quality of the environment, which could be jeopardized if radioactive waste would be deposited along the border of B&H. This declaration is, basically, “appeal for the protection of present and future generations”.
Since a similar act was adopted in Republika Srpska, the conclusion in the form of invitation to the Parliamentary Assembly of B&H to take action on the implementation of the entity declaration as soon as possible was adopted at the session.
Proposer of the Declaration is Deputy Kasim Mulalic from Buzim, town in which citizens, as well as in other places of Bosanska Krajina and cross-border areas, are afraid of so far undefined danger. They are especially afraid for many waterways in their area.
From the State Regulatory Agency for radiation and nuclear safety of B&H was stated that previous measurements from B&H at the point nearest to the location of Trgovska gora, have not shown increased radioactivity, but a potential risk cannot be excluded when it comes to deposition of material of this kind.
