The Ambassador of the UK to BiH, Edward Ferguson, stated that there was no change in the assessment of terrorist threat for BiH, after the warning to citizens of that country on possible terrorist threats in BiH was recently renewed on the official website of the Government of the UK.
“We recognize that BiH has a very complicated system of government and that recommendations have to be implemented on various levels. The gray list defines the countries that have strategic disadvantages and that is the reason why there are recommendations that need to be adopted, such as the management of non-governmental organizations, cross-border cash flows, changes in criminal laws and we are hoping that the National Assembly of the RS will adopt these changes,” stated Ambassador Ferguson.
When it comes to traveling of British citizens in BiH, he said that it was misinterpreted.
“This is a global change in the terminology that describes the threat assessment. The change is related to the terminology that is used to describe threats in order to make our people to better understand, but not a change of the evaluation itself.
Of course, if you take a look at the online advice on the issue of terrorist threats, you will see that BiH has the same assessment as many other countries in Europe as well as lower assessment in comparison to many of them. Our job as government is to give the best possible information to our citizens. We just wanted to clarify those things to our citizens,” concluded the Ambassador of the UK to BiH, Edward Ferguson.
