The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, held a meeting with the ambassadors of the Quint member states (the United States of America, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Republic of France, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Italy). The meeting, which was held at the invitation of the Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović, was also attended by the Head of the Delegation of the European Union in BiH, Johann Sattler, and the First Deputy High Representative in BiH, Jonathan Mennuti.

Bećirović said that Bosnia and Herzegovina is an independent and sovereign state, a full member of the UN, which respects the fundamental principles on which interstate relations are based.

“Respecting international and national law, Bosnia and Herzegovina will not silently watch as its sovereignty and territorial integrity are threatened. Separatist policies and threats are inadmissible and represent a direct threat to regional and global peace and security. The sanctioning of anti-Dayton and anti-constitutional policies in Bosnia and Herzegovina should and must be more decisive and must include various steps: diplomatic measures that express a clear and unequivocal position against separatism, the use of political, economic and financial sanctions as means of pressure on those who threaten the Dayton Peace Agreement,” emphasized Bećirović.

Bećirović sent a clear message that the legal authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with our allies, will institutionally stop all those who seek to destabilize the situation in our country.

He said that the international community, and especially the countries that witnessed the Dayton Peace Agreement, must stop the demolition of this agreement, the undermining of the Constitution of BiH and threats to peace. Full membership of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the EU and NATO represents the best framework for permanent security and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.

The ambassadors of the Quint particularly emphasized that the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina are unquestionable, and that they are guaranteed by the Dayton Peace Agreement and international law.

They pointed out that they will not calmly observe the anti-Dayton activities of the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. to the RS entity, that democratic, multi-ethnic and Euro-Atlantic Bosnia and Herzegovina has no alternative, and that policies of ethnic and other divisions are doomed to failure.

The common conclusion of those present at the meeting held in the BiH Presidency is that no one will be allowed to destroy the Dayton Peace Agreement, the constitutional order and peace, and that they will resolutely oppose anyone who tries to destabilize Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the conversation, the ambassadors of Quint emphasized their full support for the European and Euro-Atlantic path of Bosnia and Herzegovina and emphasized the need to accelerate reforms within the framework of 14 priorities. They reiterated their commitment to support social change processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina through joint efforts, strengthening the rule of law, defense and security system on the European and Euro-Atlantic path of our country.

All those present expressed their countries’ support for the adoption of the resolution on July 11 as an international day of remembrance and commemoration of the genocide in Srebrenica committed in 1995. They assessed the resolution as a civilizational asset that pays respect to the victims of genocide.

The ambassadors of the Quint emphasized that the resolution confirms the facts established by the court, does not stigmatize any nation and contributes to a safer future, which has the same effect as the adopted UN resolutions on the Holocaust and genocide in Rwanda.

The interlocutors at the meeting emphasized that EUFOR in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in accordance with its mandate, is ready to protect the peace and security of citizens throughout the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, announced the Cabinet of the Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović.
