The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, met in Sarajevo with the Acting US Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia, Brendan Hanrahan, who is visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the constructive conversation, they exchanged views on the current political situation in the country and the region, and discussed possibilities for further development of bilateral relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States.

Hanrahan conveyed clear messages of support for peace, stability and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing the importance of preserving the country’s sovereignty and the functionality of its institutions. He condemned secessionist rhetoric and activities that threaten the stability and cohesion of the state.

Minister Konaković emphasized that the foreign policy priority of Bosnia and Herzegovina is progress on the path to membership in the European Union and NATO. He informed his interlocutor about the challenges the country faces in the process of Euro-Atlantic integration, and emphasized the importance of continued support from partners such as the United States.

Konaković thanked the United States for its strong support to Bosnia and Herzegovina, its sovereignty and Euro-Atlantic perspective. He expressed hope for continued close cooperation and joint work to preserve the stability and prosperity of the country, the Public Relations Office of the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
